QR Codes on Business Cards
How to add a QR code to your business card: ideal size, placement rules, color customization, and print specs that scan reliably.
Ideal Size: 2 × 2 cm minimum
A QR code on a standard business card should be at least 2 × 2 cm (0.8 × 0.8 in). Anything smaller risks scan failures, especially with lower camera quality phones. For reliable scanning, aim for 2.5 × 2.5 cm.
Placement: Back of card, bottom-right
The front of your card is for your name and brand. Put the QR code on the back, aligned bottom-right. This keeps the design clean and gives the code enough white space to scan.
Always include a CTA
Never print a bare QR code. Add a small label like "Scan to save contact" or "Scan for my portfolio". People need a reason to pull out their phone.
Color: High contrast, test before print
Dark code on light background is the rule. Avoid placing QR codes on busy photos or low-contrast color combinations. Print a test card and scan it with 2-3 different phones before ordering 500 copies.
Use SVG for sharp edges
Raster images (PNG, JPG) can blur at small print sizes. Download your QR code as SVG from the generator — vector format stays sharp at any scale, from business cards to billboards.
Link to a vCard, not a homepage
The whole point of a business card QR code is instant contact saving. Link to a vCard QR code so scanning saves your name, phone, email, and address directly — no typing required.
